The worst in the South will face off with the best of the North, as the Falcons and Bears both prevailed in their respective conference championships on Thursday to advance to the PAL Super Bowl. The Falcons, the fourth seed in the South Conference, defeated the Dolphins 25-12 in their St. Patrick's Day matchup. Ryan Jacobs led the Falcons offense down the field, scoring on a touchdown to Douglas Smith on the first drive of the game. The Birds never looked back from there. Jacobs finished the contest with three touchdowns in the air (the other two to David Robinson) and one on the ground at the end of the game to seal the deal. Devin McDowell did his part as the Dolphins quarterback, passing for two touchdowns during the game.
The Bears, top seed throughout the playoffs, were able to squeak by the Browns, 53-44. The Browns controlled the first half but soon relinquished a 14 point lead heading into the break. From the start of the second half, the game began to shift in the Bears favor. Matt Greenjack, quarterback for the Browns, and Liam Bochow, quarterback from the Bears, began exchanging touchdown passes consistently in the aerial assault. Greenjack finished the game with six TD passes while Liam notched seven total. The Browns took the lead halfway through the second half when Ryan Williams caught his third touchdown pass from Matt Greenjack for the Browns, putting them up 36-32. The Bears quickly responded with a long touchdown to Connor Dougherty, 38-36, and never looked back. After a strong defensive stand by the Bears, the Browns were forced to punt. One the first play, Sebastian Stevens hauled in a batted ball and took it the distance, sealing a Bears victory with 2:30 left on the clock.
