The Heat earned their first victory of the year against the Kings, winning at the buzzer 23-22. The Heat went into the half leading by ten, but quickly saw the Kings take control in the second half as they lead 20-18 with under a minute to play. Dadrian Cropper pulled up for the Heat and nailed a three pointer to give the Heat the 21-20 lead with :25 left on the clock. The Kings quickly regained the lead with an easy lay in, leaving the Heat with 12.7 seconds and a one point deficit to erase. Dadrian Cropper drove to have his shot blocked by the Kings' Greg Smith, who netted 13 points in the game, only to score as time expired with his second effort. The Heat improved to 1-1 with the victory.
The Bulls used a balanced offense to rout the Celtics, 36-23. The Bulls had four players with six points or more, as Alexis Ferrell and Jahmar Harris each contributing ten points in the victory. Star guard, DJ Cuttino, scored all of the Celtics 23 points in the loss.
