The Raiders were able to hang on to defeat the Ravens, 36-31, to advance to the PAL Championship next Wednesday. The Raiders controlled the game in the first half, heading into the break with an 18-12 lead. The Ravens, who were down the entire first half, scored as time expired heading into halftime on a touchdown pass from Dallas Towner to Tim Glavin. The Ravens quickly scored first in the second half as Dallas hit Brenden Fitzgerald for the third of his four touchdown passes (Dallas also added a rushing touchdown in the game) to tie the game at 18. The Raiders responded with another touchdown pass from Myles Hughes to David Mongeluzi, who had three touchdown catches in the game and led the Raiders in scoring, to regain the lead. The Ravens were then stymied by the Raiders stout defense on fourth down, leading to another Raiders touchdown, giving them a 12 point lead. The Ravens quickly pulled within five after another touchdown pass from Dallas Towner to Seth Ciolkosz but could not stop the Raiders offense on their next possession. After a couple back and forth scores, the Raiders were able to control the ball and run the clock out, sealing their 36-31 victory.
In the second game of the evening, the Eagles avenged their only regular season loss to the Vikings with a 33-20 victory. Daniel Berg connected with Greg Smith on their first drive of the game for an early score and an early Vikings 6-0 lead. However, Ryan Williams lead the Eagles down the field and hit Adrian Cropper for one of their two touchdown connections on the day to take an 8-6 lead, which would be the last time the Eagles had to come from behind in the contest. The Eagles were then able to use their defense to halt the Vikings, intercepting Vikings quarterback Daniel Berg twice and Greg Smith once. Adrian Cropper had three interceptions, and added two receiving touchdowns, while Sean Kimball had one interception in the Eagles victory. The Eagles went into the half leading 20-12 after Ryan Williams hit Dadrian Cropper twice for touchdowns to close out the half. After both teams threw interceptions on back to back plays to start the second half, Ryan Williams found Chris Volker in the endzone to take a commanding 27-12 lead and finish the Vikings season.
The Raiders and Eagles will now face off in the Championship on Wednesday, December 7th at 5:30pm. A trophy presentation to the winning team and the league's Most Valuable Player will be held directly following the game.
