In the first week of PAL interleague play, the NFC went undefeated, tallying a 4-0 record against its AFC counterparts. The Saints showed their high powered offense, scoring on every offensive drive to upend the Bengals 57-44. The Bengals were only stopped twice throughout the contest as neither team was forced to punt the football. John Metz scored on four rushing touchdowns to lead the Saints to their first victory of the season.
In game two on Thursday, the Bears controlled the game against the Titans, winning by a 32-20 margin. Ryan Williams intercepted a pass on the first play of the game and then lead the offense to their first score, at which point the Bears never looked back. Dallas and David Towner each contributed scores for the Bears, as Teddy Hughes added to the Bears' total on the last play of the game, taking a run the length of the field as time expired.
The Falcons improved to 2-0 with a commanding 42-20 victory over the Jets. The Jets, who were shutout last week by the Colts, scored on the first play of the game as Trey Rogers took it the distance for an early Jets lead. Rogers later added a touchdown catch from Jake Somerville, but the game was out of hand at that point as the Falcons offense seemed almost unstoppable. Quarterback James Hamory had another great day, throwing four touchdowns and only one interception in the contest.
After a dismal game last week, the Panthers rebounded with their first victory of the season, trouncing the Colts 39-18. Jah'Mere Oakley intercepted the first pass of the game and returned it for a touchdown to jumpstart the Panthers' run. Ryan Mazur was flawless at quarterback, throwing four touchdown passes and no interceptions in the game. Chris Robinson added a pair of scores, one rushing and one receiving, before the game was done. Daniel Berg was the highlight of the Colts offense, catching one touchdown pass from Forrest Thomas early on and later throwing for two touchdowns in an effort to comeback from their 33 point deficit in the second half.
Next week will offer a slew of interesting games, as the Saints will face off against their former assistant coach, Mark Campanella, who is now the head coach of the Panthers. The last two undefeated teams will compete for NFC dominance as the Bears host the Falcons while the Colts and Bengals will battle for AFC supremacy on Friday. The Jets and Titans will square off, as each team is looking for their first victory of the young season. Here is the schedule for Week 3:
