Flag Football Down to Final Four

The PAL Flag Football League is now down to its final four teams, as the first round of the playoffs are now a thing of the past.  In the first game of playoff action, the AFC leading Colts rode a second half rally to a 48-26 victory over the Jets.  Forrest Thomas caught three touchdown passes from quarterback Andrew Collier, as a 34 point second half was too much for the Jets to handle.  In the second game of the AFC playoffs, the Titans came back to upset the Bengals, 24-22.  The Bengals controlled most of the game, but failed to run out the clock in the last two minutes.  After three consecutive incomplete passes and a punt, the Titans were able to drive down the field to take the lead with eight seconds left on the clock.
In the NFC, the Falcons held on to defeat the last place Panthers, 38-35.  Chris Robinson scored four touchdowns in the Panthers' losing effort, but a couple of late interceptions lifted the first place Falcons.  Jeff Pala scored three touchdowns for the Birds.  In the final game of the NFC this past week, the Saints avenged their early season loss to the Bears, winning 56-52.  John Metz contributed a total of six touchdowns for the Saints, as their high-powered offense seemed virtually unstoppable throughout the game.  The Bears mounted a late comeback, but the cost of two safeties throughout the game on bad snaps proved to be too much for the 6-1 team.
The playoffs continue this week as the league championships will be hosted on Thursday.  The Colts will host the Titans in the AFC championship at 5 with the Falcons hosting the Saints at 6.  The Falcons and Colts both won in dominating fashion against this week's opponents during the regular season.
The winners of each game will then meet in the PAL Super Bowl on Friday at 5:30pm.
