The Fall Flag Football League has officially began at the Hockessin PAL. Five teams consisting of eight to thirteen year olds will compete over the next eight weeks for PAL supremacy. In the first week of games, the 49ers and Colts pulled out close victories as the Eagles split their games to go 1-1.
In the first game of the season, the Eagles jumped out to an early 12-0 lead over the 49ers in the first half. The Niners Luke Wilhelm then took over the game, catching, passing, and receiving a touchdown in each category. His rushing touchdown within the last few minutes sealed the 19-18 victory over the stunned Eagles.
Game two pitted the Colts against the Cowboys, with the Colts prevailing 28-20. Colts quarterback Dallas Towner led the charge, passing for two touchdowns and returning an interception for another in the contest.
On Thursday, the Eagles looked to rebound from their one point loss against the Ravens, winning 31-8. The Eagles Ryan Williams threw two touchdowns and caught another from Jake Bowers, who also added a rushing touchdown in the first half. The Ravens were able to break the shutout with only four seconds left when Zach Orendorf connected with Brendon Poulson for the Ravens only score of the day.
In Week 2 of the season, the Ravens will try to end the Colts early bid for an undefeated season, while the Cowboys will face the Eagles on Wednesday and the 49ers on Thursday.
