The Spartans pulled away with their first win of the season, beating the Wildcats in the first game of their double header 31-25. Spartans center Alexis Ferrell led the team in scoring, notching 12 points during the contest. Point guard Dallas Towner helped lead the charge, as the Spartans took an early lead and never looked back, thanks in part to his 10 point contribution. Timothy Glavin was the main bright spot of the Wildcats offense as he led the team with 10 points.
The Tar Heels were able to spoil any thoughts of a sweep for the Spartans, winning the second game of the double header 28-22. The Tar Heels jumped out to an early lead, allowing only two points for the Spartans in the first quarter. Sean Regan dropped 10 points for the Heels in their winning effort. Alexis Ferrell hit the double digit mark yet again for the Spartans, but her 10 points weren't enough to lead a comeback against the first place Heels.
The Wildcats will look to bounce back from their two straight losses as they face off against the Tar Heels at 5pm and the Spartans at 6pm on Monday, January 17th at the Hockessin PAL.
