The PAL Winter Flag Football season officially got underway when the Dolphins defeated the Bengals in the first game of the season, 34-24. The Dolphins opened the game with 24 unanswered points, thanks in part to quarterback Dallas Towner and his 3 touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 passing) during the game. Marcus Whipple added a pair of scores to go along with an interception, one of four by the Dolphins in the game. Bengals' quarterback Garett Scott helped build a late comeback, passing for three touchdowns, all to Moses Carter, and returning an interception for a score in the second half.
The Bears also pulled away with a victory, beating the Falcons 37-19 on Thursday night. Chris Clark helped the Bears set the tempo on defense, intercepting a pass on each of the Falcons first two drives. Liam Bochow threw an impressive 6 touchdown passes in the game, connecting with his center, Logan DeLuca, three of those times for scores. The Falcons stayed in the game coming into the second half, but quarterback Andrew Bollinger's 3 touchdown passes were not enough to mount a comeback.
The Browns continued the football action on Friday with a win over the Ravens, 28-18. Browns quarterback Ryan Williams stole the showing, scoring on a touchdown run, an interception return, and a touchdown pass to his brother, Kevin Williams, in the Browns win. The Ravens' Luke Wilhelm ran for two touchdowns late in the second half, but they could not overcome the 22 point deficit in the weening moments of the game.
In the last game of Week 1, the Raiders dominated the Steelers, pulling away with a 42-18 win. The Raiders dual quarterback system worked well as Chris Robinson notched 4 total touchdowns and Greg Hallett added3 scores in the game. Jake Robinson intercepted two passes and caught a touchdown in the span of five minutes in the first half for the Raiders. Sean Regan scored two touchdowns for the Steelers in their efforts.
Games will continue this Thursday and Friday as the Dolphins and Raiders battle with the other two undefeated facing one another on Friday.
